The Baby Killers PrevailBy DMOnline, Section News
[Cross-Posted from RightCuz.com]
How uncouth. I mean really...in a civilized society, for one US Congressman to call another Congressman a "baby killer," well, it's simply not done. Never mind that it's the truth. That's entirely irrelevant. Michigan's favorite son, Democrat Congressman Bart Stupak, may have sold his soul to the devil. But hell, he did get $700K in taxpayer dollars for a couple airports in his district. That and he got lots of attention from President Obama and the national media. So all in all, a good week for Mr. Stupak. His 15 minutes of fame will lead to taxpayer's subsidizing the murder of the most innocent of life. But that's a small price to pay, right Bart? Regrettably, Stupak's Congressional district, which includes significant portions of Michigan's upper peninsular, hasn't sent a Republican to Congress since Robert Clancy in the 1920's. So while Stupak's betrayal of those who consider life sacred may leave these voters dismayed, there's little reason to believe he will face any serious challenge in November. But then again... By contrast, there's Democrat Congressman Mark Schauer. Schauer represents Michigan's 7th congressional district which includes Jackson, Albion, and Battle Creek. He just barely beat his Republican opponent, Tim Walberg, in the 2008 election with 48.8% of the vote and by less than 7,500 votes. Schauer must be banking on Nancy Pelosi and union thugs to get out his vote this November. That's the only plausible excuse for being a lapdog for Congress' corrupt leadership. Winning back Schauer's seat for the GOP should be a slam dunk assuming we can find a candidate with a pulse. CBS News is reporting that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi now has an approval rating of 11%. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid = 8%. Rasmussen Reports tells us only 11% of voters say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. One would think the opportunity to win control of both chambers by Republicans has never been greater. The question is, if they do win, will they actually lead as conservatives? Will they find a way to gut ObamaCare in 2011 and kill it off completely if the GOP wins the White House in 2012? Or will they only try to make the legislation "better"? We're told amnesty for 15 to 20 million illegal aliens living in the US is up next on Obama/Pelosi/Reid's agenda. This makes sense. The Dems will need all those new voters if they're to have any chance of staying in power.
