Just over one year into his presidency, Mr. Obama is finding that true leadership requires more than lofty ideals, eloquent words and rigid partisanship. Facing a deficit of political capital that rivals that of our own country, he must now decide to push forward in defiance or to begin the slow and inevitable crawl back from the furthest corners of leftist ideology.

While the fringes have been engaged in a constant struggle since the campaign in '08, the continued arrogance of our current leadership and the outright defiance of public opinion has begun to awaken the center right majority and there may soon be a day of reckoning at hand.

While the writing is on the wall for most to see, our President may still require the aid of a teleprompter to fully comprehend the magnitude of the approaching storm. As with the embarrassing last minute appeal to secure the Olympics for Chicago, Mr. Obama made equally unsuccessful personal appearances to campaign for candidates in Virginia, New Jersey and of course, Massachusetts. It's clear to all that the honeymoon has been over for some time.

Scott Brown's decisive win in Massachusetts sent shockwaves throughout the country as voters in the bluest of blue states voiced a clear repudiation of President Obama's policies and the ongoing antics of the Democrat-controlled Congress.

Despite administration and media efforts to spin it otherwise, the Massachusetts vote was clearly about health care and putting the brakes on an out of control government. Scott Brown nationalized the race and ran with the exclusive promise of killing the current health care bill and bringing some balance back to congress. Americans have simply had enough. The Louisiana purchase, the Cornhusker kickback and Mr. Obama's union payoff showed once and for all the arrogance and corruption of this administration.

The alphabet networks pulled out all the stops in an effort to throw their ever-decreasing weight behind the President and Martha Coakley as evidenced by Keith Olbermann's rant:

In Scott Brown we have an irresponsible, homophobic, racist, reactionary, ex-nude model, teabagging supporter of violence against woman and against politicians with whom he disagrees.

Olbermann's subsequent apology left little to the imagination:

I wanted to apologize for calling Senator-elect Scott Brown an "irresponsible, homophobic, racist, reactionary, ex-nude model, tea bagging, supporter of violence against women and against politicians with whom he disagrees." I'm sorry, I left out the word "sexist."

When all was said and done, Nancy Pelosi articulated the Democrat response best with her promise to continue forward with health care reform despite the clear message sent by citizens throughout the country:

We will go through the gate. If the gate is closed, we will go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we will pole vault in. If that doesn't work, we will parachute in.

Commando Pelosi and the rest of the Washington Delta Farce are in for a rude awakening come November.

So what was the official Presidential response to Scott Brown's decisive victory? Well, blame Bush of course.

People are angry and they are frustrated. Not just because of what's happened in the last year or two years, but what's happened over the last eight years.

Yes, of course. The overwhelming anger for George Bush is so pervasive that voters in the heart of the liberal lion's den voted for a Republican that vowed exclusively to stop the policies of this out of control liberal congress.

Apparently we must be as ignorant as the President suggested during a recent ABC news interview in which he lamented not communicating these complex issues more directly to the American people:

I think the assumption was if I just focus on policy, if I just focus on this provision or that law or if we're making a good rational decision here, then people will get it.

According to Mark Knoller of CBS News, Mr. Obama has delivered an astounding 411 speeches, 158 interviews and 23 town meetings in his first year, including "52 addresses or statements specifically on his health care proposals."

I think the problem here, and what the President fails to understand, is that the American people do indeed "get it." We've endured the ongoing corruption, the repeated lies and the numerous attempts to manipulate public opinion with bogus statistics and manufactured data.

Most were willing (many still are) to give him a pass on the numerous mistakes and miscalculations throughout the first months of his presidency. We may have disagreed with Mr. Obama's world wide apology tour, but we understood that many on the left believe with heartfelt conviction that America is the root of nearly every evil to be found on the planet.

We've chosen to overlook repeated transgressions in the hope that much needed change would ultimately be coming to Washington, but eventually even his base will grow tired of the ongoing arrogance and the childlike tantrums when things do not go as planned.

It's time for the administration to get over George Bush and start to stand on the strengths and weaknesses of their own questionable policies. We've tired of the excuses and we've allowed for a more than generous learning curve given the inexperience of our young president, but it's time to grow up and get down to the serious business of restoring this country before it's too late.

The presidential ears have been off limits since the campaign, but I doubt very much that Mr. Obama cannot hear the outcry -- he simply chooses to ignore us. Whether by choice or by accident, that oversight may prove to be the worst mistake made during this one term presidency.
