    Pure Michigan To Expand

    Lovely.

A taxpayer funded advertising campaign originally created to attract tourists to our fair state is now going to be expanded to attract permanent residents to Michigan.

Michigan has a lot to offer, that is, if you don't count a lack of jobs, a business environment unlikely to create them, and a population of such low self esteem that it intentionally elected Jennifer Granholm as its governor...twice.

Michigan is having a difficult time hanging on to the residents it already has. It has difficulty employing them, keeping them safe, or educating their children. It habitually raises their taxes and provides them with fewer services for those ever higher taxes.

Why wouldn't the vibrant family of today want to move here?

Pure Michigan is an award winning campaign that purposefully does not advertise Michigan at its purest--a state anchored to an industry it helped to choke yesterday, but fully content to wait on the jobs of tomorrow.

    This will fail (none / 0) (#2)

This is going to fail.  Everybody around the country knows that Michigan is suffering.  The only people that this might.

The only people who would honestly move to a state because of a TV ad are the kinds of people who sit and watch QVC 24-7 and buy everything they see.

    I can see it now:

"Move to Michigan, and you can experience first hand, the beauty of the Great Lakes in you back yard.  BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!  A NEW CAR, sponsored by General Motors (paid for by federal tax dollars)."

Seriously, the Pure Michigan tourism campaign cannot be extended to a residency campaign.  Tourism and residency are not the same.  This won't work.

The Educated Idiots running our GREAT state have the cart before the ass!  Forgive me but this kind of backward thinking while using our hard earned dollars is unseemly to this and probably most hard working Michiganians and I am sick and tired of it.  Use the funds allocated for all of these advertising campaigns, excuse me Jeff Daniels, and CUT TAXES ON ALL BUSINESSES IN MICHIGAN!  At the same time quit talking about regulating existing businesses out of business (Ergonomics Regulations).  Cut taxes and the jobs will come.  I guarantee it!
    Humbly Submitted,

I have been searching the Michigan Contracts site for a month now looking for the $$ amount spent on this campaign and I cannot find it.  Wonder why?

Pure BS and about as likely to succede as the Michigan Economic Destruction Corp. Another brillant and unworkable idea from the mindlessness of the most feckless and incompetent Governor this state has ever had the misfortune to suffer. Can't wait till this empty headed Progressive is gone.
