Lisa Snyder, a mother in Middleville, MI, has been notified by Michigan's Department of Human Services, that she is facing fines and jail time for watching her neighbor's kids before school.

From the Chicago Tribune:

A southwest Michigan woman has been told that she's breaking the law because she watches her neighbors' children each morning before they get on the school bus.

Lisa Snyder of Middleville says it's "ridiculous" that she faces fines and possible jail for being a good neighbor and watching two children for less than hour without getting paid.

State Department of Human Services officials told her last week that she was operating an illegal day care.

Snyder appeared Tuesday on NBC's "Today" show.

The stay-at-home mom said DHS officials ordered her to stop watching the kids, obtain a state license or face possible penalties.

I saw Ms. Snyder, her neighbors, and her state representative, Brian Calley on television this morning. Calley, paraphrasing Hillary Clinton, said it takes a village to raise a child but apparently the village needs a license.

No it doesn't Mr. Calley, and please relay this message to Chairman Maoholm and rest of you misfits in Lansing, it takes a parent and a family to raise a child. So mind your own business!
