Happy Blogging: 2nd Annual Bloggers' Challenge starts NOW!

Reminder, team: The Second Annual RightMichigan Bloggers' Challenge kicks off TODAY (June 1, 2009)! As in RIGHT NOW!

If you haven't already, shoot me an email at RightMichigan@gmail.com and let me know you'll be participating. To be eligible for the grooviest prizes in the blogosphere you've got to do something on eight of the next twelve days (including today). Every individual challenge you accomplish will help you rack up the points and bring you one step closer to an all expenses paid trip to the Midwest's biggest conservative bloggers conference... Right Online in Pittsburgh, PA this August! Of course, there's also the free registration and all-access media credentials to this September's Michigan GOP Mackinac Island Leadership Conference, too. And T-shirts. And more.

Details on the individual, super-simple challenges below the fold...

    The challenges:

    • If you don't have a blog yet, start one! (Um, duh.)

    • Make one original, feature length blog posting a day about something happening in your neighborhood, your House or Senate district, your county or statewide!  (You get credit EVERY day you post.)

    • Cross-post one of your entries on RightMichigan each day. Make sure you include a link at the top of the column letting folks know where the column was originally posted (read: your site) to drive traffic back home.  (Credit EVERY day you cross-post.)

    • Participate (from home, even) in one of two upcoming "Adopt a Precinct" blogger call days to support the conservative pick-up opportunity in the 19th Senate Special election. (Details in the next day or so.)

    • Start a video-blog. (So we can see your pretty face.)

    • Vote on RightyBlogs and Blog Net News each day. It takes five minutes to go through the list of links and give 10s to the blogs you like and 0s to those you don't. (Maybe the easiest challenge item.)

    • Challenge yourself to leave at least three comments each day after other blog posts in the sphere. They can be posts on RightMichigan or on any other Michigan based blog your heart desires. (OK, THIS is the easiest individual challenge.)

    • Update your blogroll to include five new links to conservative Michigan blogs. There are just about one-hundred great options over on the right (no pun intended) to get you started. Share the love! (Is RightMichigan in your blogroll?  I'm not too proud to beg.)

    • Email at least twenty (or thirty, or a million) friends, family members, fellow parishioners, neighbors, work associates, fellow soccer moms, fellow NASCAR dads or anyone else you can think of to let them know about your blog and to tell them about RightMichigan.com (and the fact you're a part of the blogging community)! Just slap all of the names in your CC or BCC field and send one email. Hopefully you agree that RightMichigan is a valuable resource. Trick is, your friends won't know about it if you don't tell them.
BONUS POINTS: You can already earn credit for blogging about Michigan politics. Getting beyond simple news commentary and reaction pieces, though, represents the "next step" in building an effective Sphere. You can double your credit on any given day by blogging specifically about any of the following:
    • Interview a local elected official, candidate or business owner.

    • File a FOIA request with the state or local government and blog about it.

    • Blog about your specific ideas on how to solve the current budget crisis. What would you cut and where? Challenge yourself and do some research. Talk to your representatives in Lansing. Cite budget numbers and source your data.

    • Attend a local Democratic Party or candidate event and report on what you see and hear! We can never know too much about what the bad guys are doing and saying!

The more you do each day the more points you accumulate.

And if you're looking for tips or tricks or just plain need to know where to start, we've posted a guide HERE!

Obviously, any questions at all, don't hesitate! And happy blogging!
