Enter: The 2nd Annual RightMichigan Bloggers' Challenge (June 1-12)

Last week we promised a big reveal and we've probably made you wait long enough. So without further ado...

RightMichigan is geeked to announce the Second Annual RightMichigan Bloggers' Challenge.  What's better, RM has teamed with Americans for Prosperity to provide a grand prize that is going to knock your socks clean off.

How would YOU (yes, YOU) like to win a free, all-expenses-paid trip to Pittsburgh, PA for this August's Right Online bloggers conference?  We're talking round-trip airfare, housing, conference fees, the works, hanging out and working with some of the biggest and brightest names in the conservative movement, courtesy of the good folks at AFP.  That's a prize worth hundreds of dollars and an experience of a lifetime.

Oh yeah, and there are more awesome prizes, too!

    Why us?

Every day we're being bombarded by liberal messaging through the mainstream media, the newspapers, the evening news and a regressisphere (patent pending) that the Chicago based Sam Adams Alliance estimates is funded to the tune of millions of dollars by George Soros and Jon Stryker.

The liberals own the broadcast media. They own the print media. And until recently they've gone entirely unchallenged on the web. Those days are over.

    PLEASE read on...

RightMichigan launched in February of 2007. At the time folks like the Lunchbucket Conservative, Republican Michigander, the American Princess and Akindele Akinyemi were fighting a lonely battle for common sense here in-state. This site represented the first foray into conservative community blogging anywhere on the peninsula. Either of them, in fact. Look at the community now.

A glance at our in-the-sphere columns every morning or the blogroll over on the right and it's pretty apparent things have changed. Slowly but surely conservatives are staking their own claim to the old w w w and we're pushing back against the lefty propaganda machine.

But there's more we can do. Frankly, there's more we MUST do. The 2010 elections couldn't possibly be more important.  Michigan voters will go to the polls to select the state's next Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, two state Supreme Court justices, 15 members of Congress, 110 members of the state House and 38 members of the state Senate.  Just about name it and it's up for grabs and what's more, the Senate, the Supreme Court and the Governor selected THIS CYCLE will be THE players making redistricting decisions that will alter the look of the state legislature for the next ten years.

2010 literally represents a once-in-a-decade opportunity for conservatives.  It is well past time we get all hands on deck!  And, bonus, recognizing that there's a Galtian Capitalist in all of us, always pursuing that enlightened self interest, we've got some pretty amazing prizes. So without further ado, I'd like to introduce the second annual RightMichigan Bloggers' Challenge.

The Goal: Expand the Right Roots through increased blogging, community building and online activism.

The Means: What follows are a series of blog-centric activities you can do in your spare time today and every day. Most of them won't take five minutes of your time but when we add them up, across the Sphere, they'll make a world of difference.

  • If you don't have a blog yet, start one!

  • Make one original, feature length blog posting a day about something happening in your neighborhood, your House or Senate district, your county or statewide!

  • Cross-post one of your entries on RightMichigan each day. Make sure you include a link at the top of the column letting folks know where the column was originally posted (read: your site) to drive traffic back home.

  • Participate (from home, even) in one of two upcoming "Adopt a Precinct" blogger call days to support the conservative pick-up opportunity in the 19th Senate Special election.

  • Start a video-blog.

  • Vote on RightyBlogs and Blog Net News each day. It takes five minutes to go through the list of links and give 10s to the blogs you like and 0s to those you don't.

  • Challenge yourself to leave at least three comments each day after other blog posts in the sphere. They can be posts on RightMichigan or on any other Michigan based blog your heart desires.

  • Update your blogroll to include five new links to conservative Michigan blogs. There are just about one-hundred great options over on the right (no pun intended) to get you started. Share the love!

  • Email at least twenty (or thirty, or a million) friends, family members, fellow parishioners, neighbors, work associates, fellow soccer moms, fellow NASCAR dads or anyone else you can think of to let them know about your blog and to tell them about RightMichigan.com (and the fact you're a part of the blogging community)! Just slap all of the names in your CC or BCC field and send one email. Hopefully you agree that RightMichigan is a valuable resource. Trick is, your friends won't know about it if you don't tell them.

BONUS POINTS: You can already earn credit for blogging about Michigan politics.  Getting beyond simple news commentary and reaction pieces, though, represents the "next step" in building an effective Sphere.  You can double your credit on any given day by blogging specifically about any of the following:

  • Interview a local elected official, candidate or business owner.

  • File a FOIA request with the state or local government and blog about it.

  • Blog about your specific ideas on how to solve the current budget crisis.  What would you cut and where?  Challenge yourself and do some research.  Talk to your representatives in Lansing.  Cite budget numbers and source your data.

  • Attend a local Democratic Party or candidate event and report on what you see and hear!  We can never know too much about what the bad guys are doing and saying!

The Challenge: Starting Monday, June 1, 2009 and running until Friday, June 12 (that's two weeks) grab and perform as many of the specific challenges listed above as you'd like each day (the more the better). ANY CONSERVATIVE in MICHIGAN can participate... whether you already have a blog or start one soon. There are twelve calendar days during the Challenge. Perform at least one of the activities each day on eight or more of those days for a chance to win...

    That Enlightened Self Interest:

    A) RightMichigan.com t-shirts... fire up! (I've been saving my nickels and dimes (again) so everyone who participates will receive a RightMichigan t-shirt.)  When you wear them out and about people will immediately know that you are cool.  Promise.

    B) The opportunity to conduct one-on-one, exclusive interviews with some of the biggest names in Michigan politics.

    C) All-access media credentials and FREE registration for the Michigan Republican Party's Mackinac Island Leadership Conference this September!

    D) An ALL EXPENSES PAID trip to Right Online in Pittsburgh, PA on August 14-15, 2009.  Americans for Prosperity has graciously agreed to provide round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations and complimentary registration to the biggest, baddest conservative bloggers conference of the summer!

    E) And of course, a better, more active blogosphere as we fire back against the hate speech and vitriol being spewed by the left.

E is my favorite prize. Seriously. It's time to take this thing to the next level. With your help we can get it done. Shoot me an email at RightMichigan@gmail.com to let me know you're in and I'll send along some bare-bones reporting guidelines, so I can keep track of who's doing what each day.

A HUGE cycle demands our best.  All hands on deck!
