Earlier I had heard that the Senators from SC had asked their Atty General to look into the legality of the Health care (HR 3590) bill being rammed through the senate and a with vote scheduled for the morning of the 24th. Triggering the inquest, was the "special treatment" offered to Senator Ben Nelson (D) Nebraska, who had essentially changed his mind based (it seems) on his state getting a permanent exclusion from higher costs in medicare contributions..
Oh boy.. Now I have just received word that Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox has has joined in the fight based on the equity concerns. It seems Michigan taxpayers (and those in other states) would have to pick up even more of the tab because of such sweetheart deals like this calamitous legislation.
In a recent press release, Cox says
"I am astounded by the sweetheart deal handed to Nebraska, which will be paid for with money taken directly from the pockets of Michigan taxpayers. People are outraged and they have every right to be." The constitutionality on this basis is one direct issue that has more than these three law enforcement chiefs in action. (Looking to be more as well) What about the other issues? Forcing participation in a health care plan, taxation and what essentially amounts to "takings" by the government with its taxation policy, and perhaps outright fraud? In any event, hopefully the team he has joined (the workgroup, which began today with South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster and Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna and is likely to expand to other states) will complete their legal analysis of the deal, and put a stop to these illegal efforts by an out of control government soon. Stay tuned..
