Holy Schmoley! Is that a pig flying?!By leondrolet, Section News
The last thing I wanted to do today was to pester you with another update. But when I saw a mainstream newspaper's editorial that (get ready, sit down) actually supported CITIZENS over the political class when it comes to recall rights I, well, I just couldn't believe it!
Today's Lansing State Journal's editorial (here) is the first editorial that I have seen supporting fair, reasonable recall rights for citizens. Every other newspaper editorial board has agreed with every member of Lansing's political class. They ALL support "reasonable" recall rights as long as "reasonable" is defined as "impossible". The minute that a citizen actually overcomes the huge barriers to exercising his/her right to force a recall election is the minute that you begin hearing the government class bemoan the "abuse" of the right to recall. The only "good" recall laws are "impossible" recall laws.
It's been 25 years since any citizen has overcome the tilted playing field created by Lansing to stop citizens from exercising their rights. The recall laws created by Lansing's government class allow no limits for targeted lawmakers to use outside money, hire outside blockers and thugs, and to stifle citizens. Now that federal courts have upheld citizens' constitutional right to a level playing field, the defenders of the political class - government officials, lobbyists, most newspapers and lefty bloggers - have begun their wailing in pain, gnashing of teeth, and whining about the unfairness of justice!
Expect an outcry in Lansing; A demand for "reform" of state recall laws! The current laws are untenable! They have failed and are creating chaos! A citizen named Rose Bogaert has breached their walls and must be stopped at all costs. Citizens with power? Congratulations to the Lansing State Journal.
