DNC Lawyers: Michigan is screwedBy Nick, Section News
Voter disenfranchisement all but guaranteed? Looks that way. According to an internal memo released by Howard Dean's special DNC lawyers Michigan simply can't receive a full reinstatement of our disallowed delegates during this Saturday's highly anticipated meeting of the Rules and Bylaws Committee. According to the lawyers the best we can hope for is a half-slate. How they'd be split between Obama and Clinton is anyone's guess. It'd still be up to Democrats in smoke filled backrooms to decide (voters are pesky... no need to listen to what THEY said). And we all know how well that's worked out thus far.

The Associated Press reports that despite Michigan's importance in the general election we're plum out of luck this Saturday. Not what we wanted to hear. Not what Hillary Clinton wanted to hear either. She's still counting on a full re-instatement to help her walk away with an improbable miracle comeback.
But never let it be said that I'm a little black thunder cloud. All is not lost. There is still a way that Michigan could see every last delegate seated in Denver this summer.
Not that a floor fight is inevitable. Barack Obama could, conceivably, call for unity and ask his supporters to withdraw their protests and opposition on the floor. It could happen. In theory. The man hasn't shown much interest in taking care of Michigan voters thus far but it's never too late to start. Reports indicate he'll be back in the State this coming Monday. If the press has a chance to ask him any questions maybe they could inquire about the possibility of abandoning his objections and ending what DEMOCRATS around the country are describing in no uncertain terms as the disenfranchisement of women and minority voters. Or maybe he's more interested in playing politics? He's promised to bring "hope" and "change." Tossing millions of voters under the bus for personal benefit? THAT'S politics as usual. He wouldn't do that, would he?
