Here we go AgainBy principalityclothing, Section News
Part two of a weekly special highlighting the 75th district State House Race.
Again?
In the private sector we have a thing called job performance. For instance, a worker who does not perform his job well, is considered to be a poor employee and thus is documented accordingly. A top performer is given an excellent review and is in relatively safe job security. However, the Michigan state legislature has a different view of job performance, keeping your job. I recently have witnessed the problems associated with working to do well and working to keep your job. Often the difference is hard to see, especially at the state level. State Rep Robert Dean, according to his quote in the Grand Rapids Times, has proposed and/or supported 600 bills ranging from jobs for only Michigan citizens to the infamous tax hikes. What has been accomplished? An increase in tax burden for Michigan Citizens. And this guy wants another term. Hah. Well, he fits right into the Michigan legislative culture. Lazy, unmotivated, and disillusioned. Personally, I would like to see a state rep that actually accomplishes the quantified objective. For instance, Rev. Dean supported or proposed over 600 bills in the state house last session. For what, burdening the citizens that are supposed to give you another term? Furthermore, Rev. Dean is proud of this. Proud of THIS. Proud to raise taxes, not accomplish anything and still ask for his job back. Imagine the uneducated employee that builds himself up, comes into work late, and only to goof of and then has the nerve to ask for his job to be extended? Apparently, the good reverend never went to college and worked as a union shop boss for a company in Grand Rapids.
Lets take a look. So then what? He has to go. His replacements, on paper, look ready for the job. Mike Burdo and Dan Tietema, both fantastic individuals, are up for the running. But I think in this situation, a dynamic candidate is needed to balance the vast needs and interests of the 75th district. I think the best route is to support the entrepreneur in the race. One that has owned and successfully operated many businesses in his life yet has found the time for volunteer and community activities. Someone that has lived and worked in the southeast side of Grand Rapids. One that didn't leave when things got tough. A candidate that has emerged to a man of God and the Word. Pro Life, not to be endorsed, but pro-life because he cares. Stands up for what is right, not what is popular. Most of all, we need a Michigander, with Michigan Roots, to represent us in Lansing. Otherwise, the job performance keeps dwindling, and we as taxpaying voters are forced to accept it. And continue to keep their jobs as thousands in Michigan are employed.
