In a hotly contested race two years ago, Robert Dean became the state rep. from the 75th district. In an effort to 1.) get him out of office and 2.)win back the seat, I will begin weekly updates from the straight from the district. Stay tuned.

"I may be able to get a wink of sleep tonight!"

Wow.  Whoever said this must be stressed?

Surprisingly, it is not a college student prepping for finals, but our own 75th district state rep. Robert Dean.
How is this possible?  It helps that the coalition to recall the rev did not collect enough votes, according to the Grand Rapids Press.

Is this the type of behavior expected of our elected officials?

    Trick Question.  It's not.

So the man the 75th district entrusts with confidence to represent their district, is not gettng enough sleep.  Not because he is working nights on tax hikes (thank God) or even naming a new federal building (overtime factory).  The Rev. Dean is worried about his own future.  His cush salary and benefits.  The ability to wield power that has no tangible positive results for the citizens of Grand Rapids.  Rev. Dean is preoccupied with his own selfish interests.  And, due to the lack of pressure, will finally get some sleep.

Unfortunately, the good folks of the 75th have other things on their mind.  See, there was a time in Grand Rapids that jobs were plentiful, schools were ok, taxes were low, and the district was overall well.  But the new tax hike, supported by Rev. Dean, and the policies of the Democratic legislature has the residents up at night.

For an elected official to DO what he ran against is insulting to the citizens of the 75th.  Now, of course the downward spiral of Michigans economy cannot be blamed on the shoulders of Robert Dean.  The rookie representative has been coerced and twisted to think progressive policy in the Sak mold.

However, there is something that can be said when a candidate that runs on the pro-business, pro-life paltform fails to deliver and even support legislation.

    Results

Mr. Dean has tried, albiet small, to deliver results.  In fact, last year he supported a 5% pay cut for legislators.  However, Mr. Dean and his Democrat colleagues have been unable to drum up much support for the bill and thus still have their pay intact.

The proposed legislation introduced by Rev. Dean undermines personal responsibility.  For example, in Febuarary, Rep. Dean called on the US Congress, his boy Conyers, to double unemployment benefits for those hit with Michigans troubled economy...

"I call on the U.S. Congress to pass this plan and give our working families the boost they need to secure the good-paying jobs of the 21st century."

Is this what the 75th district needs?  No of course not.  Michigan and the 75th deserve elected officials that do not focus on creating jobs, but protecting rights and liberties associated with entrepreneurship.  Supposedly, Rev. Dean is under the assumption, like many Democrats, that governement creates jobs instead of the free market.

You would think an educated gentlemen, such as Rev. Dean would know of such a thing.  It is unfortunate that Mr. Dean never experienced college, yet feels confident in his abilities to support such policies.  The former union shop head is turning the state legislature into just that, unmotivated workers, overpaid and whiny.

    Now I can't sleep.
