    Convention rules (5.00 / 2) (#1)
by Nick on Fri Aug 03, 2007 at 07:29:19 AM EST
Still unfortunate that the GOP even has to consider a convention at this point.  I would have liked to have seen the joint-primary bills move through the Senate two weeks ago but at least it's officially on the calendar now.

The onus then rests on the Dems in the House.  Will they back Mark Brewer's play (which in this case would actually be a good thing... he and Saul are on the same page) or will they flip MDP the bird?

    Time will tell.

Thanks for the update, Saul.  Glad everyone's safe.

    Thanks, Saul (5.00 / 1) (#2)

Thanks for stepping up to the plate to lead on this one, Saul.  I'm glad you're keeping everyone up-to-date and involved in the process.  I hope we have a primary too and that we don't lose delegates.

But I think the paper ballot idea at conventions is fantastic.  We all saw what happened last time.  BOTH SIDES CHEATED on the youth race.  I saw it for myself, and I'm not alone.  Anyone who says they both didn't cheat needs to have their eyes and ears examined.

If a convention is how we're going to pick our nominee, we have to make sure it's fair, and I'm glad you think that too.  A paper ballot makes sense.  Count up the delegates, give them all a ballot, let them vote it, count the ballots, make sure the number matches, add them up for each candidate--that's it.  No more head counts, holding up construction paper, or dividing aisles of chairs!  That process is ridiculous.  I hope this change is adopted and used for all conventions, not just the next one.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, SAUL!
