If Granholm Wants Positive News, She Should Create Some With Actions, Not WordsBy Republican Yankee, Section News
"Poor Me" Syndrom Once Again Subs-in for Poor Leadership
So, it looks like we've been right all along. As far as the political gas tank is concerned, Granholm is running on fumes.
On Friday's edition of MIRS Capitol Capsule, Granholm pleaded with Michigan news media to start reporting "good news" and provided some token examples to start the brainstorming. But it didn't work. Instead, the news media was more concerned on the issues they should have been concerned with. Namely a Democratic House Budget Plan that is not a budget plan and a governor who is seemingly invisible in the midst of what she had admitted is a "budget crisis" that needs "immediate attention". The bottom line governor is that media outlets are going to report reality, not your rhetoric. Unlike your (sometimes) mindless voting base, they're not going to swallow something whole because you're really nice and you tell them so. GOOD PRESS demands ACTION and ACTION demands LEADERSHIP. Granholm is vacant of it. What the press is reporting is what the press and the rest of Michigan is seeing, a reality where Michigan leads the country in everything we shouldn't be leading the country in. There is no policy area (possibly excepting health care) where Michigan is better off now than we were in 2002. Granholm should be made to answer for that and so far the press hasn't made her, but that's starting to change. Like a dinosaur trying to hide behind a telephone pole, Granholm is insulting our intelligence by trying to tell us everything is good or getting better.
