Also, don't think for one second that the timing of all this (an openly gay NBA player, a pending-openly gay NHL player, and according to rumor an about-to-be-openly gay NFL player) is coincidental.  The SCOTUS is currently considering two cases that should result in a delineation of the constitutional line regarding what say, if any, the federal government ought to have on the gay marriage question, and now gay professional athletes are coming out of the closet in the highest-profile manner possible.  According to a quote misattributed to Franklin D. Roosevelt, "In politics, nothing happens by accident.  If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way."
