      If my knowledge is correct, my understanding was that he was paying the protection money until we had a Navy that could tell those afrifu{k pirates to blow it out their ass.

      Of course, nowdays, I couldn't imagine why merchant shipping operations wouldn't have defensive weaponry on board.


      Frankly, I don't like the whole concept of national defense, nor the "Department of Defense," nor Clintonista "peace keeping missions".  Go back to calling the sumb!tch what it is - Department of War.

      Can't disagree with you there. People would probably claim it was bringing control of the branches under one umbrella, but there's nothing to say that Department of War would be incorrect. Probably PC BS.

      Franks got railroaded by some dbag TV Generals claiming he failed at rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan. Guess what, that's not our job. Our job is to go in and clean house.


      Foreign aid?  Well, if you are referring to the Progressives (yes, George W too) bastardization of the concept, then ya, it needs to be go to the operating table for surgery to remove the benign.

      I suppose that would be what I'm referring to. No problem here working with the Brits to put some expired sauerkraut in the trash.


      For one to say "Should be cut to ALL countries," well, that's just pure isolationist Bee esS.

      I guess the question is what we consider foreign aid. If it's straight up cash transfer, yeah, we really don't need that (can anyone explain why we are sending money to Pakistan, when we should be donating detonated high explosives?). However, if Iran actually starts making moves on Israel, I don't have an issue clearing Tehran off the map (though I wouldn't be surprised if Israel would beat us to the punch).
