I have lost people very close to me from alcoholism for example.  My best friend drank himself to death eventually, leaving a wife and children behind. And THAT is not the worst of the stories I could share.

The people involved had choices they made however.

In fact what is interesting, is that the very same people who seek to make folks addicted to government subsidy for their very existence, sued tobacco companies for doing the same.
