Yes, Council voted to approve the deal.
Yes, the guv signed off on it.
But does anyone really expect this to get any easier from here on out?
The unions and community <strike>agitators</strike> organizers are royally peeved at the situation right now and are currently assessing their options.
If they don't like the new contracts (rhetorical question, I know...just humor me) will we be seeing work stoppages? Work slowdowns? Strikes? Labor violence?
Will this governor have more of a backbone to call out the National Guard in a timely manner, unlike another governor (cough,cough...ROMNEY) who sat on his sorry behind while people died and the city generally descended into anarchy (i.e. snipers, looters, etc.)?
Will the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs be directing UIA to flag new applicants to MARVIN who were former City of Detroit Employees to see if they really are eligible after any of the above happens?
How much whining and feet-dragging will we see over the selection of financial advisory board? Project Mgr position? CFO?
What will happen after the petition challenging P.A. 4 goes on the ballot? How much of this process will be put on hold then?
One of the common arguments of the defenders of the status quo was "Where's our money?"
Those same people didn't think it was necessary to go after the same amount of money when it was readily available to them. Can you imagine what will happen if they are left to manage themselves again? Even for a short period of time?
The guv and his people may be partaking in a mutual admiration society right now on what a great job they have done.
Truth be told: This problem is far from over.
There is still a long, long way to go.
