    State Rep. Paul Opsommer (R., DeWitt) said he likes Mr. Santorum's fiscally conservative and position against abortion rights, as well as his 100-percent pro-National Rifle Association voting stance. He said by making Michigan such a contested state, Mr. Santorum has already proven he can compete.

    "Michigan's already a victory for him. He'll do very well," Mr. Opsommer said.
