Now by that standard, I have a real problem with all of these recalls that are circulating, because the only "offense" that these officials are guilty of is supporting and passing into law something that just might be controversial.  However, Michigan's election law doesn't work that way; the only requirements for the petition language are that the reason for recall be a political issue clearly stated within 200 words, and that the objectionable behavior in question must have occurred during the current term of office of the official in question.

What I do find surprising, though, is that the necessary signature count was accomplished within a mere two weeks.  That tells me that Rep. Scott really screwed up big, and the voters in his district are simply using the petition as an excuse of convenience.  (Given the speed with which this was accomplished, it may be that the "Tiger Woods of the GOP" may be one of those six true stinkers on the republican side of the State House that needed to be the target of a tea-party-driven electoral decimation.)
