    That would be a solution.

I think I mentioned the ability to take the chits and run somewhere else in the thread.  Private schools would thrive while the failed public institutions would see competition.

A remarkable statement and validates the disagreement parents have with the public school systems.  It is a matter of affordability for many parents who desire a better school environment for their children.

Makes sense, and I would expect to see more of it before it is all settled.

    Competition is good.

on the knuckles with a ruler from the old nun isn't so bad after all is it?  Parents and students crave an atmosphere in their schools where learning is the top priority. And discipline is part of that atmosphere.

The priority in the public schools is to keep the foul mouthed little jerk whose parents don't give a rats a$$ about said little jerk - all in the name of state school aid funds.  While good students fall behind the teacher has to deal with said little jerk every damn day instead of removing said little jerk because of namby pamby administrators wishing to "save" said little jerk because the parents will sue to keep their full time babysitter.

"That's right. Parents' freedom to choose a better school for their kids is a "death blow" to public schools that can't "control ... who is allowed to attend...."

I wonder if Rep. Bledsoe thinks a child suffers a "death blow," or perhaps something less severe, when he or she is assigned to a failing school, and the people who run the better public school down the street stand in the schoolhouse door to keep that child out."
