Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

You argue that this will have a "chilling effect".

Specifically, you've mentioned the smoking ban, but Rep. Scott also supported Gov Snyder's pension tax/income tax hike, Michigan's nanny-state approach to OTC medicine, and his big-brother approach with auto insurance companies...just to name a few.

I can argue that the MEA is actually doing our side a favor by doing all of the legwork and cutting his obviously useless political career very short.

When elected officials like him go off the reservation and pull stunts like the above just because they think that "-r" after their name will protect them...hoo boy, are they in for a shock!

We have nothing to gain by this?

Then tell me, after the '83 recalls, what was the tenor in Lansing regarding tax hikes?

Oh, on the surface, the politicos will tell that there's nothing to see here and move along.

As for me, I've seen politicians who were deathly afraid that their cushy, overcompensated position would be taken away from them the moment they did anything stupid. As long as the voters were, for the most part left alone, the politicians jobs were safe (at least until term limits kicked in back in '92).

If Rep. Scott hadn't done so, and all the MEA was running on was a single issue vote (a'la Wisconsin), I would have no issue in volunteering time and money to help him fight his recall. Sadly, this isn't the case.

Given his willful flushing of the principles he purportedly stood for right down the toilet, I see absolute no reason to offer him any aid whatsoever against his recall campaign.

You can also mark my words on this: Governor Snyder will let Rep. Scott twist in the wind when this vote is all said and done.

This may be a marginal district. But if republicans want any support from Michigan Conservatives against any potential new recalls, then they'd better shape up and get with the program, repealing all of Gov Snyder's tax hikes (i.e. income, pension, Detroit Utility) would be a great start.

Otherwise, they may be next and pounding the pavement looking for a new job.
