I used to know a lot of conservative teachers who voted Republican. With the slashing of education budgets and raiding of the School Aid Fund, they will not vote Republican again. Many of them voted for Snyder but are willing to sign a recall petition because they are so enraged. They are taking pay freezes or pay cuts and paying more for insurance among other things and place the blame directly on the GOP. Whether anybody thinks those things are good or not, there is no question which party is better for their livelyhood and being able to support their families. Had the GOP not raided the school aid fund, there was enough money for a $260/pupil increase rather than a $470/pupil cut. The Democrats started this bad practice last year but at least it was a loan.
