Understand that a bigger pie means more for the teachers.

Bottom line is the state will treat its public employees as best it can.  If it is doing better with less being used in welfare and social problems, there is more for other elements such as teachers.

More for the teachers if there are more jobs.  Their frustration stems from the bad math on the other teacher's part.  Occasionally a couple of them get caught up with the unreasonable emotion the MEA leadership gins up, but for the most part they get what the REAL problem is.

      Unaccountable labor union leadership.

Teachers have NOT taken any major hits in their wages.  They get their step increases automatically.  They may have voted for a wage freeze but that is only for what they negotiated in their contracts.  Step increases are automatic and not part of the negotiated wages.  Look it up!!!  And those step increases are hefty anywhere from 10-20% depending on their years of service.  They refuse to bid out their insurance and instead want only the pricey BC/BS administered by their union. I am sick and tired of them calling themselves "poor". And if I hear it's "for the children" one more time I am going to hurl!
