In years past, according to my tax guy, I wasn't eligible for any deductions relating to my expenses, truck payments, fuel bills, insurance, utilities, etc.

To the political victor may go the spoils, but it doesn't make for an equitable tax system. Writing and re-writing exemptions and deductions in the tax code is confusing, cumbersome and a waste of time & resources.
