That's a question a local legislator is asking after the House Fiscal Agency announced that it expects Michigan to take in $427 million more by September 30th than earlier forecasts. But for State Senator Joe Hune, the report is further proof that the portion of the tax overhaul that taxes pensions for retirees was unnecessary. It was that provision that led the Hamburg Township Republican to be among a handful of GOP Senators who voted against the plan. He tells WHMI that what makes it worse is the fact there is absolutely no definitive word as to where those extra funds will now be used. "I hate to say this but I suspect that much of it will be spent and I think that's bad for Michigan and bad for moving us forward. I'm not certain what all the promises were made as to what was going to be completely done with the surplus. I don't know the answer."
