I disagree with this line of reasoning... (none / 0) (#20)

First of all, it doesn't apply to Kwame. Kwame embarrassed the city of Detroit with his criminal actions and left a huge black eye on the city. I'm glad that Detroit's finally ousting some of its corrupt officials and I'm also glad that the Kilpatricks are gone (or will be gone, at any rate), but I didn't rejoice as I watched the city go through that kind of crap.

Second of all, if someone enacts a policy that I disagree with and it turns out to work and actually improve the country, then I'm happy to be wrong. I personally think that the stimulus, for instance, has left us in a big hole, but if Obama's policies turn out to lead to economic recovery and the deficit starts to shrink, then I'll be very happy. I don't really think that'll happen, but if it does, then as far as I'm concerned it's an unambiguously good thing. Then again, my political beliefs lie pretty much right in the ideological center, so my perspective is going to be different on things like this.
