I would be cautious of drawing too many conclusions about the bridge project.  There are some other issues there as well.  

For example, the state claims it may lose federal funding if IT doesn't do something (spend more on roads) and is exempting the bridge from the formula(money spent to qualify)because it is privately owned. Even though it doesn't matter.

Which leads us into..

The other part is the willingness of our governor to deal with the Canadians exclusionary of the bridge folks so that presumably her union "cronies" get their rewards.  <--THAT is cronyism.  Protecting the interest of the private businessmen against an overwhelming bureaucracy is not.

Allen has done some things that legitimately concern conservatives and traditionalists, but keep to direct fact and votes and the truth is there.  From a tourism standpoint, he has represented Northern Michigan as he should.  Much in the same way others in various communities represent their own local interests.  

Looking at anyone's voting record on CORE issues is going to be more valuable than citing pimping for a local business, because the alternative is that it goes to another constituency.
