    We actually knew the owners as my husband used to be a contract announcer for the sister station in Alpena - WATZ.  I think the guy is still involved or co-owner now - Ross something.  It was in the mid to late 80's we met him at a program meeting in TC.  

    I find it funny that these stations, more often than naught, have the token liberal on air but their gravy is the conservative talker format. Lansing has Shiels, WJR has Albom.  

    Beckman questioned Granholm on taxes during the 2007 budget talks about her claim in a SOS speech that there would be no new taxes.  She denied ever saying it - live on the air, so he replayed the speech and she got really PO'd and refused to come on the air with him for over a year.  She has been on sporadically with him but only over non budget issues like Kwame or Detroit school issues.  It was priceless though.
