A good argument, except for one thing. (none / 0) (#5)

How will be able to ascertain that you have found the right area to counter that 9% in Mi-05 and 3% in Mi-09?

Yes, those wins were by razor thin margins (Mi-09 especially), but much like roaches, unless you know exactly where they are at, you'll need a pretty wide footprint to make sure that they're no longer a problem.

Another reason for my suggestion was seniority.

Levin has been there since '83.

Kildee has been there since '77.

      Conyers since '65.

And Dingell, ever since Fred Flintstone was out and about.

Kildee, Levin and Dingell are too entrenched. Even the most creative gerrymandering won't get them out.

Conyers, on the other hand, can easily be dealt with by having him face a serious contender.

Given that most Detroiters are hard-wired in their DNA to vote for no one else but a democrat, Clarke is the most logical choice.

At the very least, you will be guaranteed to have one less "-d", voting on the floor of the House when the dust settles.
