      The problem with merging the two is that you're taking a district that has a strong Republican constituency in it (Grosse Pointes), elected a moderate Democrat in Hansen Clarke, and ensuring it will be solidly blue for the next 10 years. Kicking out Mamma Kwame and replacing her with Clarke is a sign of progress in the district; while still a Democrat, he has been much more willing to work with our side than the "other one". Republicans made gains, and Hansen seems to be taking a strong anti-tax and anti-deficit stance relative to the other liberals. Looking at the 15th and 7th districts, that's where I'd like to see consolidation. With the gains Steele had versus Dingell, consolidation and redistricting may make the 15th Red.
