    There are any number of ways those who want to pander to the social right on this issue can do it. The biggie, of course, was already taken care of in 2004, when we enshrined hate in our constitution. But some of the more backward states have banned same-sex partners from petitioning to adopt their partners' children ... Michigan has a ban on workplace discrimination that I'm sure some members of the religious right would love to repeal ... and, heck, the Montana Republican party even has a plank in its platform that calls for making homosexuality illegal.

    The Dems' biggest weakness is that they pander to the unions. The Republicans' biggest weakness is pandering to the religious right and its moral crusades.

    We need to fix the economy, end the labor movement's stranglehold on the state, and create an environment aimed at encouraging business growth, not creating more government union jobs.  That's Job #1.
