I would also like to point out that under Engler he privatized the running of these state owned marinas and the state was knocking down some good sized income from these operations.  Granholm stopped that and now the state owned harbors are run by the DNR with DNR employees.  They are poorly cared for and not a pleasant place to visit since the state took them over and all funded by fuel taxes.  Not a good bargain.  Road taxes are funding waterways that get a refund on the same taxes that supports them.

So beware if you support an increase in fuel taxes and research where those taxes go and who pays and who doesn't.
