Mrs. Conyers is an accused felon awaiting sentencing.   Sen. Conyers is Chair of the Judicial Committee.   No conflict there.

If I wanted to avoid(or minimize) scrutiny of this potentially explosive (no pun intended)scenario, I would create a diversion.   Enter the FBI, radical Islam, profiling and racism.  

Beleagured and seemingly ill equiped for this type of incendiary public relations, the FBI spends most of its time putting out these "brush fires" with their PC extinguishers only to find that there was no real fire, just a small flare up.  " Nothing to see here folks, go on home".
