First, most of the legislators in Lansing disliked but supported the trooper cuts.  Second, McHugh isn't a Republican and, alas, I'm not aware of many who have as of yet publicly endorsed his list of potential cuts and third, I think most folks who DO object to the MSP cuts coming first do so on the grounds that A) they are being used as a scare tactic and B) there is much lower hanging fruit in the entrenched bureaucracy, not because they wouldn't begrudgingly go along with MSP cuts as a part of a comprehensive SOLUTION.
