How Republicans Can Keep 100 Cops on Streets Now!
Michigan Senate passes a bill mandating that no police officers be laid off to balance the budget, and that the 10,000 non-essential state employees be given additional unpaid leave throughout the next year to make up the time.
that's an additional 2.5 days each for the 10,000 non-essential state employees to keep 100 cops on the job.
Then, introduce the measure in the Democratically controlled Senate.
Then motion to discharge it from all committees and demand an immediate vote on the floor of the Michigan House, citing the Michigan Constitution Article IV Section 16 and Michigan House Rule 42 and 58:
"Each house, except as otherwise provided in this constitution, shall choose its own officers and determine the rules of its proceedings, but shall not adopt any rule that will prevent a majority of the members elected thereto and serving therein from discharging a committee from the further consideration of any measure ..."

Some democrats will vote for the measure. I believe that it will pass.
Then demand that Governor Granholm respect the wishes of the legislature and of the people of the state of Michigan and keep those 100 cops on the streets.
