    Yes, I was referring to the Pure Michigan campaign.  I don't object so much to their airtime in other states.  I just think the returns might be more than a little diminished when the ads are being played in Michigan, telling us how great our own state is.  We live here.  We know what it's like.  Not to say it's entirely worthless; it may influence some people to vacation within the state vs. elsewhere.  Probably not the wisest advertising investment though.   So, it was in that sense that I found the two advertising programs to be comparable.  

    And effective or not, I think the money from both of these programs could be better spent by NOT spending it.  Not while we are fighting with a massive budget deficit and an oppressive business tax climate.  Savings need to be found in non-critical areas, and lottery advertising seems awfully non-critical to me.
