I dare you to name one 'democratically' chosen piece of art that is superior to something chosen by 'statists'

The best art in Western Civilization was financed by one person, either a religious authority, wealthy patron or some aristocrat.  The masses don't spontaneously generate good art.  That entire idea is just silly.

I realize the libertarian tendency is to question whether there's any objective truth and then couple that with saying that everyone's perceived interests are their own rational interest, as though their own particular artistic taste is entirely subjective.  The lying cliche that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."  But if that were true than it would be equally as valid to say that the Venus di Milo is just as ugly as it is beautiful.  The Sistine chapel is uglier than a Mapplethorpe picture, right?

I suspect, I don't hope but I suspect, that the democratically chosen art will resemble something akin to a huge tacky mural of Tony the Tiger saying "Grand Rapids is Greaaaaaaaaat!"
