FYI-
> The bus expansion will before the General government (GG) committee on November 2 to determine whether this will go forward. Republican members of the GG Committee: Chair, Chris Long; Vice-Chair, Shelley Taub; Members; Jeff Potter, Brad Jacobsen, Dave Potts, Kim Capello and Jim Runestad. Long, Jacobsen, Capello, Potter and Runestad are in Opt-Out communities. Taub, and Potts are in Opt-In communities.
>
If this gets approved in GG it is referred to the Finance Committee. The Republican Committee members of the Finance Committee are, Chair, Tom Middleton; Vice-Chair, Mike Gingell, Sue Ann Douglas, Christine Long, Jeff Potter, Dave Potts and Shelley Taub. Potter, Potts and Taub are all in the Opt-in communities. Douglas is a very vocal opponent of the SMART bus tax.
The bottom line is this is a plot by SMART to take money from the Opt-Out communities to keep their bus lines running. We need people like you to get the word out and pepper Commissioner Potts,Potter, Runestad, Taub, and Capello with e-mails, letters and telephone calls telling them to vote no on the resolution.
