The good old days (none / 0) (#19)

In fairness, that was back in the time when school districts were allowed to spend most of their time and energy and money concentrating on teaching children instead of having to prepare state paid breakfasts and lunches, build up the kids' self esteems, spend two hours a day teaching global warming, teach sensitivity, tolerance and accepted social behaviors (without the use of a sturdy wielded yardstick) and could rely on parents and local officials to be involved in making the school relevant.

Alas, a new age of education has come to pass where the dictates of distant government supersedes the needs and desires of the local community.

I'll also bet those kids in Kansas had no clue how to use a Nintendo game controller.  Priorities man, priorities.
