      My understanding is that when these Enemy Combatants are tried through the American civilian court system they will be able to walk out the front door into American society if they are acquitted of the charges against them.  
      That is the reason these folks were housed at Gitmo.  If they were acquitted at Gitmo they could be deported to a foreign country if that foreign country would eccept them.    
      Another question, in prior wars weren't Prisoners of War kept until the end of the war or exchanged for the other sides prisoners of war?  
      Of course our enemy today doesn't take prisoners.
