    In case you haven't noticed, states (especially Michigan) are incapable of undertaking projects of this enormity and sustaining them efficiently in the long-term. I agree, that we need alternative means of transportation, and I believe, we would already have this if the government did not have a coercive monopoly over our disastrous transportation infrastructure.  perhaps if they (the state and federal government) would get out of the way of entrepreneurs and investors, we'd see efficient alternatives for transportation.  The state does not have the means to provide such a service in an efficient way.
