I don't see individualism, self-reliance, self-sufficiency and closeness to nature in opposition of what urban conservatives are all about which is togetherness, group process and interconnecting with others from different aspects of thinking for one common goal.  I think it makes for a good coalition. We can be more or less of any of these things and still be harmonious toward the common goal which is improvement and success. So, this should be the easiest hurtle.

I think it's only suspect if a goal benefits only some to the extreme exclusion and/or detriment of others.  Your projection benefits everyone.  The individual, the community, the state, the nation, and the world.
