      This legislation has nothing to do with "underperforming" schools. This is a move to restrict funding for charters. Melton is not behind this but those teacher unions in his district are because 13% of the student population in Pontiac alone are in charters. And because Pontiac continues to lose students annually the only way you can stop kids from leaving Pontiac Schools is to restrict funding for charters in the district to force children BACK to the Pontiac School District.

      However, what Melton is proposing is what we call an "educational domino effect." Whatever happens in Pontiac (his district) will happen all over in urban school districts across Michigan. This is a plot to restrict and eventually bankrupt charters.
