I don't know what any of y'all do or don't know about those in the sea services (Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard), but if you're going to challenge the integrity of such a person, then you'd better have proof-in-hand that the challenge is valid . . . otherwise it gets unpleasant in a hurry.

That, by the way, applies to veterans of those services as well.  As Nick DeLeeuw pointed out a few years ago, different "go" words apply in different cultures.  I'm a retired sailor, so there're plenty of tags you can legitimately hang on me, many will be accurate, and not all will be kind.  But to accuse a Sailor, Marine, or even a Coastie of being either a "thief" or a "liar" . . .

The joke, however, is on us. They aren't going anywhere.  

A month later, its as if nothing has happened.  Bobby Schostak remains in a position of trust at the top of the MiGOP, Anuzis has started his reelection bid for the super-delegate spot, (committeeman) Sharon Wise is doing as she is told and continuing damage control, and who the heck knows who/what Bill Runco is doing?

And some are beginning to ask why we pursue this.  Their concern is over the damage done to the upcoming political contests pointed at those of us who are calling out the corrupt acts as we observe them.  Why would we do this to the Republican party?  Why would we undermine the very tool which is there to help elect Republicans to office?  What gives us the right to be judge, jury, executioner?

An answer: Wrong is wrong.  We must self police. And since they are still here?  At best we are simply the constable, or maybe a little bit of prosecutor.

Last Sunday, on the Dump Saul Anuzis facebook page, I wrote:

"While all of this various and sundry political talk is very fascinating, let's please keep our primary objective in mind . . . that of dumping Saul Anuzis as Michigan's RNC National Committeeman. We do need to start recruiting a potential challenger, and develop a delegate strategy (using the 2010 pool) to accumulate the votes necessary to dump him."

The conversation threads, both on the page and in the group, were starting to get a tad afield of the original purpose, which is to focus the efforts to replace Saulius Anuzis as Michigan's Republican National Committeeman.  Best to stay focused here, as we only have about seven weeks left to work with.  Grab a pot of coffee, and let's go below the fold.

And while we're at it, we're going to connect a few dots and see what we see.

But I gotta tell you; some of the "off the radar" developments swirling around on the periphery of the Michigan Dele-Gate fiasco have me wondering just what the hell is going on behind the curtains in those back rooms.  And specifically one development has me intrigued.

Apparently Team Romney has never heard of a guy named Yogi Berra, or the concept of there being a reason that we actually play the games.

How can we stand as a party with true principles, if the pursuit of power overrides common sense and appropriate management of our affairs?  How can the desire for a single candidate be allowed to flavor the rules after the fact, to advance that candidate? How can a party that continually keeps trying to call itself "Big Tent" work so diligently to drive away the conservatives, grass roots, and TRUE Republicans, expect to survive such an important time in the history of this country?

Maybe its because those at the top don't want survival.

That is one of the conclusions one must arrive at if the facts are examined with a critical eye.  An unacceptable acknowledgement of blame for a presumed misunderstanding of the rules is all the proof the MiGOP is willing to offer to a now despondent base that everything will be OK if we all just coalesce around the chair, and spurn the idea that crooked dealings have been happening.  "If we pull together, then we can beat Obama in Michigan!", being the theme.

The Ends justify the means.  Just ignore the fact we become that which we fight in the process; Dirty dealing, backroom brokering, power seeking corruptocrats who could really care less about the rule of law or what is decent and just.
