    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

State Representative Announcement - Cindy Duran

I have several video segments from an event on the island with candidates in a fundraiser.

The Madison PAC, and Jack Hoogendyk are seeking REAL Republicans for legislative positions, and much like our $100 project are supportive of primary efforts that bring conservative values into play.

The first in the series is Cindy Duran running for the 79th district house seat.

    Several more to follow.

    Yesterdays' Press Release

The full press release was sent to several outlets, resulting in a MIRS Podcast out soon, and a couple of radio interviews.

From discussions, outreach and even the most casual conversations on Friday at the island, it was very easy to get the sense that many Republicans on the island were VERY open to the idea of exorcising the Governor. Even though one watching the broadcast last night live might have seen an excited party, the reality is that a great number of the GOP active types would prefer a new nominee, and some (not quite a majority) would be willing to endure gridlock for a few years.

The good news for my part is that there are still three possibilities.

They are quite aware there is a growing support for a replacement, and two of them have indicated an interest in becoming that replacement if things fall together.

    Good times.

In any event, go below the fold for the press release

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

Greg McNeilly Calls For Republican Party's demise

Some things just don't make any sense.

Such is the diatribe from a self important Greg McNeilly, who wishes the Tea Party Types to leave the Republican party.  Labeling Conservatives Magpies and Malcontents and even

"... Many of them are actually an invasive species, they are not Republicans."
    says the political operative.

While many of us are at the conference building connections and assuring the long term strength of a Conservative Republican Party that actually has SOME foundation that is worth defending, a spinning political homunculus assumes the role of who is, and who is not, of importance to the party of Reagan.

    Go figure.

    Gubernatorial Surprise

The wound in the Michigan Republican Party needs some cleaning.

Though centrists, moderates, center left types wish to call Conservatives 'purists', we reject that notion. The request that some form of substance is present, or that at least minimally, or that a reasonable alignment with the platform of the Party be observed should not label Conservative Republicans in that way. Even within our own ranks we have many unique visions of what the Party should be, while still agreeing on one aspect; that it is different from the Democrat Party.

This morning press releases were issued to local and national news agencies outlining an effort to remove the sitting governor
even with the risk of electing the Democrat nominee; a point at which we might see gridlock.

While recognizing the good he has done, we should note that there is nothing so special (including the coveted RTW) that wouldn't have happened with any other Republican at the helm; a fact also emphasized with the realization that another Republican would have been FAR MORE effective in many areas of fiscal responsibility and responsible governance.  Conservative Republican activists across the state have opined, and a few are quoted in the release noting they will not support Rick Snyder in the general if he is the party nominee.

We are in the process of disinfecting a very deep wound, and though some wait for an "awkward" statement with 'baited breath', those same persons might be wise to consider the possibility that the wiser and older Conservative Republican Party members actually have a clue what principles are, and how to apply them.

And that the Bactine sometimes stings for a bit when applying liberally.

But when it is all said and done, the healing will begin.

    The Clock

I am going to enjoy the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference with my wife and network with good conservatives and true Republicans.

Of course this will involve selective attendance at a number of parties and gatherings. But being there are so many republicans willing to at least consider seriously the platform they represent, I would love to be in multiple places at once.  In the meantime, I suppose it is fair to let folks know the 'cat' is out of the bag, and as reported by the AP, there will be no [planned] primary of the governor announcement on Friday morning. The door is still open, and a strong recommendation to those attending will be made to consider finding a conservative to at the very least be on the ballot.

There WILL still be an announcement worth noting on Friday. The clock is still counting down.

There will also be an active recruitment of challengers in districts that have had wayward Senators and Representatives.  those 'wayward' who are the type that might say "screw you" to conservatives within the party.  Or those who already have.

    Vos amici mei?

    Walker: "Screw You"

To the progressives, the hospital lobby, and the left "how can I help you"

But to the base of the Republican Party?

    Alrighty then.

Tell me again about how Snyder hasn't poisoned Republican leadership?

9 Out Of 10 And No Sunshine

Aside from selling out the country on 25x25, and a particular take on the national popular vote that would leave most states ENTIRELY powerless in the presidential election process, Saul can be pretty accurate on political issues.

He notes that our governor is NO conservative, and his words make the argument that Snyder is a 'republican of convenience'. He argues a couple of other points however that I must disagree/partially disagree with.  Like many who aren't even as 'conservative' as he, he argues that the "RINOs" out there are the tea types who would bolt from the party if they don't get their way. I have seen it, and I don't like it either. The trouble is, that they are the ones who still hold 'republican values'.  And backing it up with the statement of "we agree 9 out of ten times .."?

Watch this OTR overtime (or not) with Saul then go below the fold

You Already put Your $450 Where Your Mouth is, Schostak

It never ceases to delight me with the schadenfreude that the MI-GOP rubes bury themselves in, with their chosen duplicitous chair Boobie ShowStak, having a hot air case of the fantods about an uncreative commie bleating his DNC talking points on MSU's campus.
