    Convincing other parties to not run candidates is not a long term formula for success and really indicates that maybe the problem is your candidates...

    3rd Parties are going to do what they do. They are opponents just like the democrats.

    There's a plus/minus rate of about 150,000 votes that decide these trustee races.

    Personally, I'd get straight ticket off the ballot. It rewards laziness, and frankly I get real insulted when my vote is cancelled out by some drone who doesn't know anything about any of the candidates.

    We won two of the three Supreme Court seat despite an 8-9pt loss. Those aren't covered by straight ticket.

    Republicans are more apt to vote downticket anyway, so I'm not afraid of taking a small shot to the chin in my county if it means four of the counties I border take a haymaker to the chin.

    It also reward counties that do their due diligence downticket when it comes to good candidates. We would have lost one township race in 08 without straight tickets, but the one who skated by got recalled anyway.
