I was gonna post almost the exact same thing. I've tried for years to get him out of office but don't think it's ever going to happen.

I'm not the only one that thinks that our "Republican" representatives leave much to be desired. Hell, have we forgotten that this state's GOP was/is the party of Milliken and Ford and Romney?

    WTF?????

Upton should switch parties...then the GOP can vote him out in the next election (like Arlen Spector).

Mercury, CFL bulbs and urban legends (none / 0) (#8)
by mcdirt on Tue Nov 16, 2010 at 03:57:24 PM EST
Broken CFL bulbs require care cleaning up. However the story about expensive Haz Mat cleanup is a baseless urban legend discounted many years ago. I'm surprised to find it's still being repeated as fact. http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/cfl.asp

As for the mercury, if you draw power from a coal plant as most Michiganders do, an incandescent bulb will result in the release and deposition of several times more mercury than an equivalent CFL bulb contains. Popular Mechanics has concluded that "Even if the mercury contained in a CFL was directly released into the atmosphere, an incandescent would still contribute 4.65 more milligrams of mercury into the environment over its lifetime."
