    GM and Chrysler (none / 0) (#11)
by BruceB on Sat Jul 11, 2009 at 08:46:41 PM EST
I believe that GM sold more cars in 2007 than any other car company.  GM was either 1st or 2nd, to Toyota, in 2008.

Chrysler, GM and Ford aren't selling cars!  Well, neither is Nissan, down 42%, Toyota, down 34% or Honda, down 32%.  The problem isn't that GM, Ford and Chrysler aren't making cars that folks want to buy.  The problem is that because of the Democrat caused Financial Meltdown (Community Reinvestment Act) people don't have the money or confidence to buy a car from any car company.  Simply put, people all over the world are not buying things unless they `have to'.

3 of the 3 followed the approach I am suggesting.  GM and Chrysler had problems that Ford and the other manufacturers didn't.  My guess is that GM and Chrysler carried more unprofitable lines and bureaucracy than Ford.  They probably did not act quickly enough when the housing market crashed.

My firm belief is that having a lot of dealers is NOT the problem.  Having a lot of dealers is an asset.
    Just my Humble Opinion
