    Tourism impact . . . (none / 0) (#22)

    . . . of sales taxation.

Well, Nevada charges a sales tax of between 6.85% and 8.1% (depending on county) and a gambling tax (but no income or business tax).  Does it impact tourism there?

Texas has a base sales tax rate of 6.25% (with local options of an additional 2.0% in some jurisdictions).  While the weather might discourage tourism in Texas, I'm pretty sure the sales tax doesn't.

Wyoming has a basic sales tax rate of 4%, with counties allowed to add up to an additional 3%.  Wyoming's pretty popular on the rodeo circuit, and has several highly attractive resorts and parks.

Take a look at the chart at the bottom of the page that I've linked (beginning of my response) and see what the sales taxes are in any particular state you'd like to go touristing in.

My point is that sales taxes aren't much of a deterrent to tourism.  People go there because there's something to see or do, and don't care too much about sales taxes.  Also note that, because the embedded business taxation will be removed from retail prices, the price to be taxed will be lower.
