Much like many companies who cut corners on producing their flagship products or services, the Republican Party has forgotten that merely not being the Democrats is hardly a compelling reason to support it or it's selection of candidates.
When you cheapen the value of what you bring to the table, blur the lines of distinction between you and the others on the shelf, or do not live up to your advertising claims, you risk losing the discerning customers you attracted in the past, as well as your ability to attract new customers who see little value in the offerings of your competition.
